How collecting consent works
Under GDPR, you need explicit consent from clients before sending marketing materials by email or SMS. You should also be able to show when and how that consent was given.
Consent should be separate from your privacy policy, clearly explained, and easy for the client to withdraw later. Service-related communications such as appointment reminders usually do not need extra marketing consent if they are already covered by your core privacy terms.
Recording marketing consent
Marketing messages can include promotions, campaigns, and rebooking reminders. The simplest time to collect consent is often during a client visit or onboarding flow, when your team can explain the options clearly.
- Open Clients from your workspace menu and select the relevant client profile.
- Click Actions and choose Edit client details.
- Go to Settings and scroll to the Marketing notifications section.
- Tick the boxes that reflect whether the client has agreed to receive marketing by email, SMS, or both.
- Click Save to apply the updated consent preferences.
If clients manage their own preferences through a self-service account experience, your team should respect those choices and avoid overriding them manually unless your workflow specifically permits it.
